SOP or Standard Operating Policies are a key part of the audit requirements. They show how a pharmacy handles the control of its day to day activities to ensure that key tasks are carried out at the correct interval and with consistency.
PSL make content available for import so you have a great starting place. If you import shared SOP content supplied from PSL then you simply need to customise the content to make it more specific to your pharmacy. While inserting the pharmacy name is a good start, actually detailing where things are and other key details show the auditor that you are pro actively considering how the pharmacy functions and putting in place systems to effectively manage it.
SOPs have a lifespan. When an SOP needs to be updated there are two ways to go. You could just edit your document but what if you are adding more details as the result of an issue or incident? The old Sop is then lost and you have no way to demonstrate to an auditor that you have updated your SOP to reflect your changing needs. Think of an SOP and a living document, the AuditLink module is designed to help retain versions of documents so that you can see the progression. When an SOP document need to be replaced with a new version use the SOP Versioning system. This lets you take a copy of the document and mark the old version as replaced. Now you are free to edit the new document and retain a reference copy of what it was like prior to the updates.
